Spirits of the Damned: Exploring the Haunted Distillery of Hales Bar Dam

A haunted distillery? Oh, it's as if Eerie Outings has stumbled upon the perfect blend of the macabre and the intoxicating! Our curiosity was instantly ignited by the mere mention of such an enchanting and eerie combination. We simply could not resist the allure of exploring the haunted Dam Distillery!

Hales Bar Dam

Nestled on the eerie and cursed banks of Lake Nickajack, right along the Tennessee River, lies the previously abandoned Hales Bar Dam. This location has gained quite a reputation as a paranormal hot spot, but now it's serving up spirits of a different kind.

The Hales Bar Dam has a dark and troubled past. It was constructed on native Cherokee territory, which was cursed by the fearsome War Chief, Dragging Canoe. Legend has it that he vowed the land would forever be shrouded in darkness and bloodshed, rendering it uninhabitable for anyone who dared to settle there.

Throughout its history, the Hales Bar Dam never reached its full working capacity. After 54 years of flawed workmanship and failed repairs, it was finally decommissioned in 1967. However, the story doesn't end there.

Today, the Hales Bar Dam is part of the Hales Bar Marina and Resort, and it has found a new purpose as the home of the Dam Whiskey Co. This local distillery produces a variety of spirits that bear the Dam name: Dam Whiskey, Dam Straight Bourbon, Dam Vodka, and Dam Moonshine.

Visiting the Dam Whiskey Co. is an experience in itself. They offer guided tours of the historic dam, allowing you to learn about its haunted past while sipping on their handcrafted spirits. The distillery also boasts a lively bar where you can enjoy their creations and soak in the atmosphere.

But that's not all—the Dam Whiskey Co. has something for everyone. From live music performances to the presence of friendly goats roaming around, there's always something to captivate visitors. And if you're seeking an extra thrill, make sure to check out their seasonal haunted house, appropriately named "6 Fears Dam."

You may have seen the Hales Bar Dam featured on popular paranormal shows like Ghost Adventures and Kindred Spirits, further fueling the intrigue and mystery surrounding this chilling location.

So, if you're up for a spine-tingling adventure and a taste of spirits with a supernatural twist, the haunted Hales Bar Dam and its Dam Whiskey Co. are waiting to welcome you. Prepare yourself for an unforgettable experience where history, hauntings, goats, and fine spirits converge.
